Schloss Bruck
High above the city of Lienz is the castle Schloss Bruck - the former seat of the Counts of Görz. It was hideaway and difense system. After a few renovations and additions, it was used as a representative and administrative building, in which the Görz counts and, after them, the barons of Wolkenstein-Rodenegg resided! Since 1943 is the castle propriety of Lienz and is a museum. In over 40 showrooms you have a look into cultural genetic constitution, history and art of East Tyrol. Also worth seeing is the two-storey castle chapel from the 13th century with its frescoes.

Burg Heinfels
1210 the castle of Heinfels was built as highest tower in the Hochpustertal. It was in propriety of the count Görz, after the castle fell to the emperor Maximilian I von Habsburg and was stormed and occupied in the peasant wars in 1525. But the building did not collapse because of the external enemy, it collapsed because of futility and empty state of the venerable walls. From 2010 to 2016 the castle was restored and a museum was built. The chaple which was built in 1280 with fresco from Leonhard von Brixen, teacher from Simon von Taisten, received an unusual ceiling as part of the renovation, designed and planned by architect Gerhard Mitterberger.

Chaple Albin Egger-Lienz
Albin Egger's tomb is located on the grounds of the parish church of St. Andrä in the war memorial chapel which he designed with frescoes by himself.

Duregger smithy in the upper old town of Lienz
Rudl Duregger is part of the cityscape in the Messinggasse Lienz. The Upper Old Town is historically shaped by handicrafts and has retained this ambience to this day. Rudl has been running the blacksmith's shop in the Messinggasse for almost 50 years, his wife the associated shop “Alte Schmiede” next door - probably one of the most photographed motifs in our district capital and always worth a visit. Caution: the blacksmith has his own individual opening times.

Kammerlanderhof in Thurn
The late Gothic parlor (around 1500) is an important testimony to East Tyrolean folk culture in the valley of Lienz and makes a visit a worthwhile experience! The association "s' Kammerland - Kulturinitiative Thurn" tries to restorate and maintain the historic house.

Schnaps distiller Schwarzer in the middle of the city Lienz
Pregler, Gin, Werhmuth or Rotbitter? The Schwarzer distillery in the Upper Old Town is now in its third generation and lives the tradition of East Tyrolean schnapps distilling. In addition to the typical East Tyrolean Pregler, the range also includes the legendary gin without a name, vermouth and unusual fine brandies. Schnaps distiller Rudolf Schwarz opens his cellar during the city market. If the sign is in front of the door, you can go through the house 18 Messinggasse and the inner courtyard into the shop and the cellar of the schnapps distillery.

The lake Weißensee is about 55 km away from our hotel and ist the highest lake to bath in Austria. The lake which is located between mountains and forrest is in summer a water sports paradies and also an advice for some romantic sightseeing tour with the ship. Galitzenklamm water viewing path
The juwel of nature at the dolomites of Lienz. Have a look along the Galitzenbrook along the path and bridge and feel the elemental force of the water. Informative charts show knowledge about history, geology, birds and plants.
Also a beautiful, new via ferrata lead along the waterfalls of Galitzenklamm. Constant proximity to water and an imposing deep view make the via ferrata a real experience.

In a tour through the wool processing facility, you will learn how mattresses, pillows, bedding and building insulation materials are made from the wool of the Tyrolean mountain sheep.
